Our History
The Leominster Assembly of God church exists for the glory of God through Jesus Christ. People who have been born again and found life in Jesus Christ have gathered together and established a body of believers here in Leominster.
This body began many years ago (1906) through prayer meetings being held on Pleasant St. in Leominster. These prayer meetings went on for about three years until the group was large enough to meet in a small hall on Colburn Ct. in Leominster.
Through the early 1900’s the small congregation met at several different locations until 1948 when land was purchased at 39 North Main St.. In the 1960’s, under the leadership of Pastor Woodrow Fletcher, the people were able to purchase some land at 834 Main St. (our present location). After several years of hard work, a beautiful building was dedicated to the Lord on November 4, 1968.
Skipping ahead we see Pastor and Mrs. Otis Stanley coming to the church on January 1st, 1976. Through their ministry, with God’s blessing, the church was able to grow and expand and purchase another piece of property adjacent to the current one. With the new property a larger sanctuary was built which can seat around 600 People. The dedication of this facility took place on October 17, 1981.
The vision of this church continues to go forward. We believe in the centrality of Jesus Christ, and as we lift Him up by worship and lifestyle, we believe and know that Jesus will build His church. Our prayer is for God to continue to work in us and through us to bring glory to our Lord, and bless the lives of many people in our area.
