ESL - "ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE"
Leominster Assembly is reaching out to the international community with its ESL school called "English For All Nations" (EFAN). Now in its second year, the school has registered more than 275 students from approximately 25 countries of the world! Many students have visited the church and several have accepted the Lord as their personal Saviour.
The school now has seven levels of learning, from beginner to high advanced. These classes are taught by Christian volunteers. They find the work to be fun, challenging and fulfilling. This is missionary work in action! EFAN also offers a special class to ESL students on Sunday mornings at 10:00a.m. In these classes ESL teachers share facts about America and things about American culture that will help students adjust to their new home.
Regular classes are from September through May, on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. Open enrollment allows students to register any time, on any Tuesday night. Simple tests help place students in appropriate levels of learning. Classes are free. There is a charge for textbooks.
Individuals who are interested in teaching or helping in the ESL school may request a packet of information by calling the church office at 978-534-1190, or e-mailing the school at info@laog.org. Some teaching experience is helpful, but not required. Training is offered for the fall season.
Prospective students may pick up a brochure of information in the church lobby, or call the school coordinator, Jean Meppelink, at 978-464-0119, or e-mail her at Jean@Meppelink.info.
PATHWAY TO MEMBERSHIP
How do you become an active, voting, and participating member of the body of Leominster Assembly of God? One word. Membership.
First Corinthians 12 tells us that the Holy Spirit has given every person in the local church gifts to be used for the good of the whole body. One sign of Christian maturity is a desire to become a member of the church body.
We want to help you become all that God intends you to be. To accomplish this, we offer five dynamic, Bible-based courses and sessions to help you grow in Christ and to discover where you best fit into His body here at Leominster Assembly of God.
These courses and sessions will help you become fruitful in your Christian walk as you learn more about our assembly.
For these reasons, we require that anyone desiring to become a member of Leominster Assembly of God should satisfactorily complete all of these courses and sessions before he or she is accepted into membership.
You will find that every teacher is a mature, victorious Christian who has been a member of our assembly for several years.
DRAWING CLOSER TO GOD
"Drawing Closer to God" is an ongoing 13-week seminar held in the Triangle Room during the Adult Christian Education hour on Sunday mornings during the spring, fall and winter semesters.
You will learn what the Bible has to say about who you are in Christ. You will also learn how to live a victorious, fruitful Christian life that is pleasing to God and profitable for you and your family.
WELCOME TO THE FAMILY
"Welcome to the Family" is a 10-week seminar held in Pastor Mark's office during the Adult Christian Education Hour on Sunday mornings during the spring and fall semesters.
You will be introduced to the major doctrines of the Assemblies of God as well as the practices, policies and procedures of Leominster Assembly of God.
EFFECTIVE PERSONAL SOUL WINNING
"Effective Personal Soul Winning" is an ongoing 13-week seminar held in the Triangle Room on Wednesday evenings at the same time as the Adult Bible Study in the sanctuary during the spring, fall and winter semesters.
You will learn how to partner with the Holy Spirit to introduce your unsaved family, friends and acquaintances to new life in Jesus Christ. This seminar does NOT include such things as endless drills, memorization or "hitting the streets."
OUR CHURCH VISION
"Our Church Vision" is a two-hour informational session that will acquaint you with the primary vision of Leominster Assembly of God. This session covers important topics such as the specific purpose of our church, the future we are walking toward, the centrality of Jesus in the vision, the strategy and form of the vision and more. After this session, we believe you will really know the central heartbeat of who we are as church and be better able to share our core vision with others.
DISCOVERING MEMBERSHIP
"Discovering Membership" is a two-hour informal group session with the pastor. This group session is for those who have already completed the four classes listed above.
During this time together, you will gain insight concerning the blessings and expectations of membership. You will also be allowed plenty of time to ask questions.
Church membership means mutual benefits and responsibilities for both the church and the member.
